Our Wedding

No matter where you are coming from, you will want to fly in to Geneva, Switzerland.  It is then an hour drive to Chamonix, France.  Do not rent a car!  Chamonix is a walkable town.   You can secure transportation from the airport into Chamonix.  We have used Mountain Drop-offs many times.  Their information is provided below.

Geneva Airport

Mountain drop offs pickup location is inside Geneva airport, just before exiting to the parking lot. They provide group transfers, private or shared, from Geneva airport straight to your door in Chamonix.

<a href="https://shouka-chamonix.fr/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Shoukâ </a>offers “bean-to-bar” chocolate, literally from the cocoa bean to the bar, and “bean-to-cup” coffee, from the coffee bean to the cup!

Poco Loco Burgers

Nadeen's <a href="https://poco-loco-chamonix-mont-blanc.eatbu.com/?lang=en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">favorite restaurant in town</a>. This tiny dining landmark serves the best burgers in France (not that that's saying much) and delicious local draft beer from Brasserie Mont Blanc.

Cafe des Aiguilles

Canadian owned <a href="https://galerie-cafe-aiguilles.com/carte-hiver/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">cafe</a> selling local art. English speaking. Great place for morning coffee, breakfast or a snack.

Munchie

Swedish owned <a href="https://www.munchie.fr/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Asian- fusion restaurant.</a> Small plates to share. So many good ones you won't be able to choose! You'll want a reservation to this cool and tasty spot.

Mumma

Thoughtfully plated <a href="https://www.mumma.fr/menu" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Pan-Asian fusion</a> dishes &amp; innovative cocktails in a moody, contemporary setting.

La Fine Bouche

An absolute <a href="https://la-fine-bouche-chamonix.eatbu.com/?lang=en#" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">gem</a> that accommodates only 24 people and is the cutest, coziest, most lovely petite boite.

Big Horn Bistro

Home away from home. <a href="https://www.bighornbistro.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bighorn</a> is best known for its homemade baked goods, fresh produce and protein, and a warm welcome. This little bistro is run by an American family whose dream of living in Chamonix goes back nearly 20 years. The inspiration for Bighorn came from a childhood spent in the Wyoming Rockies.

Weekend Schedule

As our American clan descends upon Chamonix, we want to be polite and considerate guests for our French counterparts. Being fluent in French is not required, but assuming everyone understands you and addressing people in town in English is a big no-no. So...here are some tips to be a gracious tourist: 1. Greet everyone with "bonjour." Saying "bonjour" (hello) when you walk into a store or restaurant will make all the difference in how your experience there will be. Even saying "excusez-moi" (excuse me) is not enough if you haven't started with "bonjour." 2. Say "au revoir" or "bonne journée" when departing. Saying goodbye or good day is common courtesy in English and French! 3. Keep your voice down in public. Turns out Americans are MUCH louder than we realize. Use your inside voices. 4. Use "s'il vous plaît" (please) and "merci" (thank you). In French s'il vous plait! 5. Be prepared for meals to be long and leisurely. We tend to be in a rush all the time, or waiting for the "next" thing. Enjoy your meals and time with your company!

When in France

Formal attire on the wedding day. Suits and long dresses/gowns appreciated. We kindly invite our guests to wear muted or deep shades of blue and green to help us create a beautiful celebration! Think solids or floral prints. Let the Alps be your inspiration! Ladies: Ditch the stilettos. The terrain includes gravel, cobblestone, and grass. Block heels are our friends! It may be cooler or breezy during the ceremony on the mountain so you may want to bring a wrap or shawl.

Passport renewal can take up to six weeks to process, whether it's done online or by mail. If your passport is expiring at any time in 2026, you will want to renew your passport asap!

While the wedding reception is an adult affair, children are invited to the ceremony at the Mer de Glace. Chamonix is a lovely place for a family vacation. If you want to bring your little ones- here are some child care options.
